Reverend Organdrum – Hi-fi Stereo

Yep Roc

For more than two decades Jim Heath has been working his furious six-string magic as the Reverend Horton Heat. With drunken swagger and lightning quick solos Heath is part surf rock part barroom brawl and all attitude. Now with his latest side project he trades in Texas psychobilly freak-out for a Memphis B3-organ breakdown. Reverend Organdrum doesn’t stray too far from his trademark bang and twang but with help from Grammy winner Tim Alexander on Hammond organ and Todd Soesbe on drums Heath flashes back to the smooth blues rhythms of the ’50s and ’60s. The result is a handful of tracks that sound like a long-lost studio session in which Link Wray joined Booker T. and the MGs. Loaded with spy movie music sneaky covers and hard-luck numbers tailor-made for Heath’s crooked crooning Hi-fi Stereo shimmers with B3 brilliance. It’s as slick as it is fun
