Vol. 8 : Gobble Gobble – Edmonton AB

[Ed: While you’re reading check out some of their tracks at CBC R³ .]

Take the two kids who were the most fun at your 5th birthday party because they played with all your toys at once and threw the cake at everyone instead of eating it. Add the kid who got kicked out of dance class when he was a young boy because he wouldn’t stop dancing when the music was over. Also the kid who wore halloween costumes to school every day and got down to the rhythm of the Speak ‘n’ Spell at playtime. Throw them all in a room with a bunch of toys a couple pairs of drumsticks and a never-ending supply of pixie stix. Let them out after 6 months and you will have something comparable to the live show that Gobble Gobble brings.

Filling out a 4-man percussion-slash-danceparty these guys use shovel-bashing helmet-smashing and high-five-clapping to animate the music. The songs themselves are are simple one-man-band-sounding catchy pop tunes—songs like Meteor Eschat or O Secret Dandruff wouldn’t seem out of place in an ahead-of-its-time car commercial. It will get you moving and the performance will slap an awed smile on your face.
