Alberta’s Lynn Coady wins Giller Prize

Another Alberta author has won the Giller Prize. Lynn Coady of Edmonton took home the prestigious award as well as $50000 on November 5 for her short story collection Hellgoing (House of Anansi Press) and will likely see sales skyrocket. She follows in the footsteps of Calgary’s Wil Ferguson who won the Giller in 2012 for the novel 419 .

The other four finalists were Lisa Moore for her novel Caught (House of Anansi Press) Craig Davidson for his novel Cataract City (Doubleday Canada) Dennis Bock for his novel Going Home Again (HarperCollins) and Dan Vyleta for his novel The Crooked Maid (HarperCollins).
