Ed Bacon is more than just the easiest solution to Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon (it’s Kevin’s dad) he was also the head of the Philadelphia planning commission for 20 years.

Calgary’s own head of planning Rollin Stanley is obviously a fan. He’s hosting a mini-festival called Baconfest that’s focused on films Bacon himself screened as part of his Understanding Cities series as well as selected additions.

The festival takes place every Wednesday night in January starting on the 8th and every Wednesday in February (except February 5th). The nights will include opening remarks from Stanley screenings and a panel discussion focused on urban planning.

With an increasing focus on how to build a better city in Calgary now’s a great time to initiate a more knowledgeable discussion about where we’re heading and what the possibilities are.
