Face of Pages Books on Kensington changing

The face of Pages Books on Kensington is changing.

This week a post on the store’s Facebook page announced that Simone Lee would no longer be an owner or employee at the store which generated numerous comments expressing surprise. Lee who took over from Greg Gerrard in 2007 following the death of his wife and previous owner Cathy McKay presented regular readings at the store as well as a series at the downtown library.

However employee Richard Young says Ben Falconer who has been a silent partner in the store will continue as owner. Falconer is also the owner of Phoenix Comics.

Young adds that all the other staff members will be staying on at Pages which is revered by readers and authors for its longtime support for the literary community.

“Simone did a great job of creating an amazing literary community in Calgary and we hope to continue doing that” Young says.
