Vertigo Theatre announces 2014-15 season

Vertigo Theatre has revealed the lineup for its 2014-15 season including the BD&P Mystery Theatre Series as well as its Y Stage Series for children.

The mysteries range from a world première of playwright Aaron Bushkowsky’s adaptation of Farewell My Lovely to the return of two favourites Dial M for Murder and Shear Madness . The children’s series highlights include a play about the world’s most famous puppet Pinocchio and an interactive adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s well-loved story Where the Wild Things Are .

The complete lineup includes:

• Raymond Chandler’s Farewell My Lovely (world première) September 20 to October 19 — a story about Detective Phillip Marlowe America’s most famous private eye.

• Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot (Canadian première) November 20 to December 7 — a whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Bloodshot (North American première) by Douglas Post January 17 to February 15 — an intelligent thriller about a photographer who finds himself at the centre of a murder.

The Haunting (Canadian première) adapted by Hugh James March 14 to April 12 — based on the ghost stories of Charles Dickens.

Dial M for Murder by Frederick Knott May 2 to 31 — Hitchcock’s thriller returns to the Vertigo Stage after 12 years.

Shear Madness by Paul Portner June 5 to 28 — an old favourite returns featuring local comedic talent.

Vertigo Theatre’s 2014-2015 Y Stage Theatre Series includes: Pinocchio October 24 to 26; Where the Wild Things Are November 21 to 23 and 28 to 30; Dreaming Now January 30 to February 1; Stella Queen of the Snow February 20 to 22; and tagg#d March 6 and 7.
