Bogie’s Casablanca Video to close in July

The Mission district will be forced to say goodbye to renting physical movies as the long-running movie rental shop Bogie’s Casablanca Video is set to close.

Citing a rise of illegal downloading along with a dwindling customer base they’ve announced that they’ll cease operations on July 15. First they’ll be selling off the majority of their collection.

The store posted the following statement to their Facebook page :

We are sad to announce that Bogie’s Casablanca Video will be closing on July 15th.

We’d like to take this chance to wholeheartedly thank our loyal customers for continuing to support us. A combination of on-demand services vending machines and illegal downloading has contributed to our demise; the 2013 flood chased many of our beloved regulars out of the neighborhood as well. When "I’ll just download it" is such a common phrase even within our aisles it is probably time to close!

For the time being we are still renting movies; however we are no longer offering the 3 for $10 special. Though new releases are not currently for sale ALL of our 7-Day stock is! This includes the Criterion collection cult foreign documentaries TV shows (HBO!) the whole lot.

Please like/share this so we can find all these fantastic movies new homes!
