Top 5 (give or take) picks for getting out

There is so much going on this weekend and beyond that I am finding it difficult to narrow down my picks to just five, so bear with me and my loose definition of “five,” will you?

Glow: Downtown Winter Light Festival will be taking place Friday-Monday from 6:30-11:30 p.m. throughout the downtown core. Check out my story on it and contributing artist Anton de Groot, as well as the festival schedule, here

The Fever by Wallace Shawn will be presented by Seadreamer Theatre Company Feb 16-25 at Motel Theatre. This looks like a great production by a new theatre company here in town — check it out!

Freedom Singer – A Project: Humanity Production will take place at Festival Hall Feb 17-18. This performance will surely take you on an amazing journey — storytelling through music at its finest led by Khari Wendell McClelland.

Michael Bernard Fitzgerald with Windigo and Middle Coast this Friday at The Palace Theatre (formerly Flames Central). Who doesn’t love local favourite, MBF?

• Even more music – The Northern Coast EP Release with Ashley Hundred and The Sweets will take place at Nite Owl on Friday. Check out the Light Festival downtown and then head over to Nite Owl for some great music.

• Plans for Family Day Monday? Head down to Studio Bell for their Family Day events including an air guitar workshop with local legend, Jett Thunders.

Check out the full calendar of what’s happening in town at The Culture Cycle. If you have an event you’d like to see in the listings, please email it to me at kari@theyyscene.ca.
