More exciting guest announcements from Calgary Expo

More stars are headed to town for this year’s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.

Organizers have just announced some big names and some special events for this year’s extravaganza, which takes place the weekend of April 27-30 at Stampede Park.

Among them are two after-hours events, including one featuring Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (a.k.a. Jay and Silent Bob), who are slated to appear on April 29 for photo ops (regular Expo admission is required) and a special after-hours live recording at The Corral of their podcast Jay & Silent Bob Get Old. Tickets for the latter go on sale March 11 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.

The second special event will be an acoustic solo concert by James Marsters (Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) at Cowboys on April 28.

Also announced were media guests Patrick Warburton (Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Tick, Seinfeld, Family Guy) and for fans of Dr. Who — or The Thick of It, which has little to do with comics and everything to do with me and my love of him — Peter Capaldi has also signed on for this year’s Expo. Capaldi has recently announced his departure from Series 10 of Dr. Who, so this is a great opportunity to see him.

These guests join previously announced stars including Jeremy Renner, John Cusack, Steven Yeun, Christopher Lambert and Kristian Nairn.
