After a successful inaugural event, the YYC Music Awards will return bigger and better this fall.
This year’s gala show is set for Sept. 24 at The Palace Theatre.
Right now, though, organizers have put the call-out for submissions for the awards themselves, with 20 categories including everything from Alternative Recording of the Year and DJ/ Electronic Recording of the Year to Industry Person of the Year and the special Zackariah and the Prophets Memorial Award.
Last year’s big winner at the sold-out event was pop vocalist Jocelyn Alice, who took home four awards thanks to her hit radio single Jackpot.
To enter, head to the website and fill out an online submission in the desired category. It’s $5 a-pop for each submission, and the deadline is May 31.
The awards are also looking for volunteers for the gala as well for members to the Calgary Music Selection Committee, who are the voters for the awards.
