Top 5 picks for getting out March 23-29

So much going on this weekend, but perhaps one of the first things you should plan on doing is getting tickets for some of the great concerts announced earlier in the week:

Spoon will play MacEwan Hall August 31, tickets $39.50 on sale Friday; Bob Dylan and His Band will be at the Jubilee July 16, tickets $57-$127 also on sale Friday; as are tickets for Tool who will be at the Saddledome June 12, $75-$125 for that; and tickets are now available for Freddie Gibbs at the Commonwealth on April 18, and comedian John Mulaney‘s Kid Gorgeous tour, which will hit MacEwan Hall June 1, tickets $45.50.

After that, get out and enjoy what’s actually happening in the city now.

25th Annual $100 Film Festival runs until Saturday at the Engineered Air Theatre. This CSIF event is always fun, so get yourself downtown!

• Theatre Encounter presents their production of Spurt of Blood at Theatre Junction GRAND, also until Saturday.

• There is a lot of art to be found this weekend, and if you are looking to add to your collection (start your collection?) the ACAD Students’ Association Spring Show + Sale is a great place to do that. Their show takes place through until Saturday at ACAD. Thursday night you can check out even more art action at the Marquee Beer Market where RAW: Natural Born Artists present CUSP, featuring local artists galore. Support your visual arts community!

• On Thursday, a stacked bill featuring Century Palm with Feel Alright, Melted Mirror and Janitor Scum is at The Palomino

• Friday night you should head down to the National Music Centre’s new home for Studio Bell After Hours, from 6-10 p.m., where there will be DJs, drinks and food. (Note: 18+)

• Comedy is always good, and Comedy Monday Night at Broken City this week features Paul Sveen and Kevin McGrath. Check it out!
