Top 5 picks for getting out March 30 – April 5

There is always so much to do in Calgary, to get you out of the house. This week you have your pick of music, art, theatre, more music, some music, and did I mention music? But first:

Just announced: Tiger Army & Murder By Death will perform July 6 at The Palace (formerly Flames Central) and The Decemberists play MacEwan Hall on Aug. 9. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday.

• Front Row Centre Players present How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Beddington Heights Community Centre until April 8.

• On Friday, attend an art opening! Lisa Brawn’s POPSHO will be on display at Ruberto Ostberg Gallery until April 22, with opening receptions Friday from 5-9pm and Saturday from 2-5pm.

•Also on Friday, when it comes to music: Kate Tempest performs at the Commonwealth, The Shiverettes Album Release takes place at Wine-Ohs with Power-Buddies and Love Waves, and The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer are at the Royal Canadian Legion #1.

• On Saturday you can take in Jen Grant with guests at Festival Hall, or head north to The Gateway to check out Yukon Blonde

Weezer! Yes, Weezer will be coming to the Grey Eagle Event Centre this coming Wednesday with The Trews and The Flatliners. I’ll be singing My Name is Jonas all week, trust me.

Notice how I made it appear as if I have five picks, but really there are eight. Sneaky.
