Stan Lee returning to the Calgary Expo

You can’t keep Smilin’ Stan Lee away from Calgary.

The legend behind most of the Marvel Universe will be returning to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, which takes place April 27-30 at Stampede Park.

Lee, responsible in whole or in part for such superheroes as Spider-Man, The Hulk, the X-Men, Iron Man and Daredevil had announced his 2016 appearance at the event would be his last, as he would no longer be attending Canadian conventions.

But, upon the urging of the locally-born writer and illustrator McFarlane, Lee has chosen to return.

“Hey my Canadian cousins,” he said in a video posted to Facebook. “You know, I had said I couldn’t be back to Canada anymore, but then I found out my dear friend Todd McFarlane is going to be there and he asked if I would join him, and nobody can say no to Todd McFarlane. So I want you to know I’ll be looking forward to seeing you at Calgary Expo – be there!”

Lee and McFarlane will appear at the Expo from Friday-Sunday, and will team up for a “Todd & Stan” spotlight panel, with details to be announced in the coming days.
