We have five pairs of ducats to give away for the closing day of the 2017 event, which features headliners Blue Rodeo, Foy Vance and many, many more.
Summer in the city.
The sun, the heat, the vibe, the good times, the music and, more importantly, the festivals that help facilitate all of those things.
Calgary is blessed with many — from Sled Island, the Calgary Stampede and Afrikadey! to the blues fest, ReggaeFest and Expo Latino, not a weekend goes by when you can’t experience the best that life has to offer on all of those levels.
The grande dame, the crown jewel of them all is, of course, the Calgary Folk Music Festival, which takes place this year from July 27-30.
It’s an incredible lineup for 2017 and will, once again, be the place to be come the end of that month, with more than 70 acts and artists — Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, Basia Bulat, City and Colour, the Barenaked Ladies, Holy Fuck, and on and on and on — inhabiting Prince’s Island Park for those four days.
Of course you do.
Guess what? Our remarkably generous, kind, and, frankly, damn good looking friends at the fest have given us five pairs of tickets to give away for the Sunday of this year’s celebrations.
The Mainstagers for the evening are Yola Carter, Darlingside, last year’s fave Foy Vance and beloved Canadian mainstays Blue Rodeo. But that’s only scratching the surface, as the rest of the day will feature workshops and side stage performances from many of the other acts, as well as the usual buffet of food and (hooray!) that Big Rock beer garden that we all know and love.
So, if you’re interested, please go to theYYSCENE’s Facebook page, like us, maybe share us (but not required), and tell us underneath this posting what folk fest act you’re most excited to see this year. There is no wrong answer, we will pick the winner at random, and let them know with a direct message by May 19 at noon.
If you don’t win, that gives you lots and lots of time to do the smart thing and buy a pass for the entire weekend.
