Top picks for getting out May 11 – 17

We run down your best entertainment bets in Calgary for the upcoming week.

This was a particularly busy week for concert announcements, including Echo & The Bunnymen, Imagine Dragons, Diana Krall, Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan, Rise Against … Friday morning is going to be a busy one when most tickets go on sale. But! To the weekend ahead!

• Thursday you’ll want to head to Ironwood to check out the incredibly talented Hello Moth with CitySleeps. If you’re into more *ahem* moshy-type music, then Distortion is where you’ll want to be when The Mahones hit the stage.

• On Friday The Shakespeare Company presents Macbeth at Vertigo Theatre, which is sure to be amazing. Macbeth runs until May 27. Also Friday, you could check out some comedy with Lisa Lampanelli at the Grey Eagle Event Centre. Or, just saying, you could head to the Ironwood for Canadian icon Art Bergmann with The Lovebullies. All are really good bets!

• Saturday is also a busy one, with Basia Bulat performing at the Bragg Creek Community Centre, and the Palomino celebrates turning 13 with the bands WYLDLIFE, Diamond Minds, Little Destroyer and more. Support your local scene!
