Performances in the main building and at the King Eddy will mark the nation’s 150th and the east village building’s first birthday.
One year after swinging its doors wide open to the public, Studio Bell will once again put out the welcome mat to visitors for a free Canada Day celebration.
The National Music Centre’s east village home will help the nation celebrate its 150th with its own one-year birthday with family-friendly events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., which include such things as a singalong to O Canada, a jam session, instrument interactives, instructional areas, and live performances throughout the five floors of the building.
Over at the licensed King Eddy, there will be a full slate of local acts performing from noon to 6 p.m., including Stephen Fletcher, Beaver Squadron, Amy Bishop, The Flat Whites, The Torchettes and Dragon Fli Empire.
“Studio Bell celebrates its first birthday on July 1 against the backdrop of Canada 150,” Andrew Mosker, president and CEO of the NMC, said in a statement.
“We are excited to celebrate these two milestones with two major accessible and fun events. As the home for music in Canada, we are ready to rock on Canada Day.”
All events are free, but on a first-come, first-served basis.
Organizers also want people to be aware that because there are numerous events going on in the area there will be road closures and parking will be limited — information on both can be found here — and for those who are looking to imbibe at the Eddy, the bar is cash only.
