While most people are making their summer plans — including for the busy festival season — one of Calgary’s newest and best events is wanting you to think of the fall.
Wide Cut Weekend has just announced its lineup for year number three and it’s another impressive collection of mostly Western Canada-based roots musicians they have on tap.
The festival, which this year runs Oct. 12 to 14, will feature almost 30 artists performing at a handful of the city’s most supportive live music venues, including the Blues Can, Ironwood Stage and Grill, Mikey’s Juke Joint, the King Eddy and the Royal Canadian Legion No. 1.
Artists performing include: Dustin Bental, Tim Hus, Little Miss Higgins, Linda McRae, Matt Patershuk, Tom Phillips, The Travelling Mabels, John Wort Hannam, Amy Nelson, The Wardens, Brooke Wylie, Shaye and Sydney Zadravec, Craig Moreau, The D. Rangers, Carter Felker and the Shaela Miller Band.
Weekend passes for the event, which is the brainchild of CKUA radio personality Allison Brock, host of the long-running Wide Cut Country program, are on sale now for $79, with tickets to the opening night party — not included in the pass — going for $25. Tickets for Friday of the fest are $40, while Saturday’s ducats are $50, and there’s a late-night offer of $20 for after 10 p.m. both days.
