Garth Brooks headed to Calgary for September Saddledome show

Country music superstar will be bringing world tour to town with fellow C&W giant — and wife — Trisha Yearwood.

Calgary country music fans can finally relax: We’re gonna get us some Garth.

On Wednesday Garth Brooks announced he’ll be bringing his world tour to town for a Sept. 9 Saddledome show.

According to his official website, which announces the show with a brief video blast, tickets for the concert, which also includes wife and fellow country music superstar Trisha Yearwood, are $65.83 plus a $7.90 tax and a $6.25 service charge — for a total of $79.98. For those inclined and of wallet, there are also VIP packages available between $1,750 and $2,500 (plus service charges).

On sale date for the show is Friday, July 28 from ticketmaster.ca.

The announcement comes after some hand-wringing by those in the city who feel that far too many tours have skipped us over due to the aging Saddledome and its roof that can’t support some of the more elaborate light and stage shows. It didn’t help that Brooks performed nine shows in the newly opened arena of our neighbours to the north back in February.

The last time Brooks performed in Calgary was in 2012 for the Calgary Stampede’s centennial year. Tickets went fast and people were angry. So don’t be surprised if extra dates are added almost immediately.
