Top picks for getting out July 20 – 26

We run down your best entertainment bets in Calgary for the upcoming week, including Fiestaval Latin Festival, Metamorphosis by Dancers’ Studio West and more.

It’s that weird week in between Stampede and Folk Fest where you’re in recovery mode and preparing for another round. Let’s see what we can find to help you through these trying times…

Just announced: The Sadies at Theatre Junction Grand on September 17, tickets $32.50 on sale Friday at 10 a.m.; Whitehorse will perform at The Palace on October 15, tickets also $32.50 on sale Friday; Garth Brooks is coming to the Saddledome September 9, tickets on sale July 28 at 10 a.m.

• Thursday: Metamorphosis, Dance Action Lab presented by Dancers’ Studio West takes place until Saturday at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. Take in some contemporary dance, why don’t you? If literary trivia is more your bag, Memorial Park Library is the place to be for Wordfest’s Dick Lit’s Trivia Night #4.

• Friday: Fiestaval Latin Festival takes place until Sunday at Olympic Plaza – always a good time, and, empanadas! Friday evening head to The Blues Can to check out Donald Ray Johnson. If you miss him on Friday, don’t worry – he’s playing Saturday as well!
