So, new site! Similar to the old one, but a bit cleaner, a bit easier to navigate, and the event listings… well, is it bragging to say that they are awesome? Also, the FFWD Weekly archives! So near and dear to my heart – I can’t begin to express my joy at this. We hope you love the new look and new features, everyone. We sure do.

It will be a great week/end to be outside, so here are some thoughts on how you can spend your time getting heat stroke. But first …

Just announced: Allan Rayman Sept. 20 at Commonwealth; Silversun Pickups Oct. 28 at The Palace Theatre, In This Moment/Hollywood Undead Nov. 4 at MacEwan Hall. Check links for ticket info, on sale dates & times.

Thursday: Calgary Folk Music Festival runs tonight until Sunday featuring 68 artists from 13 countries including *swoon* Billy Bragg & Joe Henry, Coeur de Pirate, Barenaked Ladies, Badbadnotgood… so many! Check the schedule for details and I will see you down on the island! If you’re not Folk Festing until the weekend, head over to Contemporary Calgary for their Late Night Thursday/Patio Party from 6-9 p.m., featuring a talk by artist Kim Hoang.

Friday: 6th Annual Terminus Festival kicks off a weekend of dark electronic, synth, industrial madness at Dickens Pub. Runs until Sunday. If a lighter kind of electronic music is your thing, Northland and Intervals will be at Marquee Beer Market & Stage.

Saturday: Try something different! Wings Over Springbank Air Show takes place Saturday & Sunday featuring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Planes! If you’re looking to stay inner city and expand your cultural horizons, the Calgary Arab Festival ’17 will be taking place at Olympic Plaza form 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday & Sunday. After checking that out, you can head over to Lougheed House for their Annual Beltline Garden Party with free outdoor & indoor fun for all ages, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Monday: Calgary International Blues Fest kicks off and runs until Aug. 6 at various venues around downtown. Check out the full schedule of amazing artists featured this week and be sure to check back to theYYSCENE.com for coverage.
