Summer Feast showcases some of the city’s best restaurants serving some of the freshest local fare

The dog days of summer are turning into the dining days with a new event that has some of the city’s best restaurants offering prix fixe menus for tempting prices.

Summer Feast is set to celebrate the best of the season’s bounty at a baker’s dozen of Calgary’s top restaurants. Starting Friday, Aug. 11 and running until Aug. 20, the 13 restaurants will offer three-course lunch or dinner menus for $15, $25 or $35. Whether you’re craving Korean at Anju or seeking the contemporary take on classic British fare at Whitehall, there’s a menu to tempt.

Each restaurant will offer an appetizer, main course and dessert for the prix fixe price.

But, with 13 restaurants and only 10 days to take advantage of their offerings, planning will be key. Thankfully, you can scope the menus in advance to both whet your appetite and immediately make reservations.

Many of the restaurants are embracing summery local ingredients in their menus. Among the dishes offered, oven-roasted Taber “Corn on the Cob” with spicy garlic butter and queso fresco at The Nash; a soup made from foraged chanterelle mushrooms at Market; and, at Pigeonhole, heirloom tomatoes with peaches, shiso and sesame.

The other restaurants participating are Bridgette Bar, Foreign Concept, The Guild, Klein/Harris, Model Milk, Shokunin, Rouge and Notable.

Summer Feast will be a great chance to explore some of the city’s best restaurants at a time of year when incredible ingredients are at their peak.
