Scene In the Wild Podcask: Episode No. 4, Wordfest CEO Shelley Youngblut

On this episode of Scene In the Wild, I sat down with Shelley Youngblut, the CEO of Calgary’s literary festival and ongoing author-reader event organization Wordfest.

Youngblut’s career in the publishing world prior to taking the position has been an extensive and fascinating one, beginning with her starting Vox magazine, the monthly program guide for local campus and community radio station CJSW, to working at ESPN The Magazine in New York and then returning to Calgary to helm the Postmedia publication Swerve.

Youngblut offers her insight into all of those things as well as her picks for this year’s Wordfest, taking place Oct. 9-15 in the city.

Thanks again to Shelley for agreeing to tell her story, to Lorrie Matheson for producing the Podcask at his Arch Audio studio, and the fabulous folks at the Wild Rose Brewery Taproom for hosting our conversation, quenching our thirst and making things that much wilder.

Please feel free to download and share, or head to the iTunes store to subscribe to Scene In the Wild for past and future episodes.

Cheers.
