Yes. Zombies. We are gearing up towards Halloween and it’s all breaking loose right now. What’s all the commotion about? Well, let me give you an idea:
Thursday: Wordfest is still in high gear, with their Late Night Series: Literary Death Match taking place tonight in the Big Secret Theatre at 9:15 p.m. Check out their full schedule for everything they have going on until Sunday. Handsome Alice Theatre opens inVISIBLE, their latest production at the Matthews Theatre, U of C at 7:30 p.m. The show runs until Oct. 21, check out my story on it here. For music, hit up the Hifi Club for Rococode tonight. Seems like a plan!
Friday: Jerry Seinfeld performs both Friday and Saturday night (two shows each night! That man is a machine!), tickets still available. Also taking place all weekend is, well, Wide Cut Weekend! A multitude of music to take in around the core and Inglewood — check their site for full schedule. Also Friday, Japandroids with Cloud Nothings perform at MacEwan Ballroom, and, yeah, this is amazing, you can head over to Theatre Junction GRAND to take in a screening of Strange Brew at 7 p.m.! Seriously! (Eh?)
Saturday: Start your afternoon off right with the 2017 Calgary Zombie Walk. Dress up (or don’t, your call) in your zombie finery and march around downtown, with after party to follow. If you head up to MacEwan Ballroom that night for Every Time I Die, Knocked Loose & Hollow Earth, you won’t have to change.
Sunday: At 2 p.m. you’ll want to be at Ironwood for Oh Susanna‘s latest album release. If you can manage it, and you’re a cycling fan, head over to the Plaza at 4 p.m. to take in Murphy’s Law — a documentary screening about a gal, her bike, and Ireland.
Monday: It’s here! The YYComedy Festival takes place this week and Shaun Majumder will be gracing us with his presence for the gala, I believe. Also performing will be Deanne Smith — she’s awesome — amongst many, many other talented comedians. Check out their full schedule and plan your week!
Tuesday: ATP launches their latest production, To the Light, based on Virginia Woolf’s novel To the Lighthouse, which I happened to study in university. Looking forward to seeing this show, because I honestly can’t remember the book. I remember I liked it, so that counts for something.
