Top picks for getting out Oct. 26-Nov. 1, including the Jesus and Mary Chain, Nosferatu, wizards, The Dudes and more

Hey! October is almost over and you’d better have your Halloween costume ready! Or, if you’re me, you come up with a faaaaaantastic idea on Nov. 1, then promptly forget it by Nov. 3. Creativity in action! Or not. Alright, on with the show!

Thurs: Mark Sultan with Des Arcs at Broken City, Raleigh release their new album at the Ironwood, or head over to Distortion for Special Ops with Mokomokai, GrizzlyHawk, Jab & Aces!

Fri: The Halloween extravaganza starts NOW! You have your choice of two (yes, TWO) screenings of Nosferatu — one at the Lougheed House at 6:30pm and one at Knox United Church with live organ accompaniment. Your call! Or you could head over to Festival Hall for Jeffrey Straker with Amelie Patterson. Feel like checking out a haunted house? The Haunted House Hamlet will take place nightly at 8 p.m. until Oct. 31 at A/Maze Escape Room.

Sat: It’s supposed to be a great day, so why not head out for a drive? Wizarding World of Okotoks will be taking place — a day of Harry Potter quality magic throughout downtown Okotoks during the day. That night, you are spoiled for choice: The Dudes Annual Halloween Party at The Gateway, Forbidden Dimension’s Halloween Howl at Oak Tree Tavern (yusss!), The Rocky Horror Picture Show — a staged live reading — presented by Alberta Playwrights’ Network at Evergreen Theatre, or hey, The Jesus and Mary Chain will be performing at MacEwan Ballroom! Yeah, it’s adequate.

Tues: Have you had a chance to take in Lunchbox Theatre’s production of Flight Risk yet? A perfect lunchtime event!

There is so much more going on in this city than you can imagine. Check out all of the listings to plan your week ahead!
