Scene In the Wild Podcask: Episode No. 6, Femme Wave founders Hayley Muir and Kaely Cormack

This edition of the Scene In the Wild Podcask was an important and timely one.

It features a conversation with Hayley Muir and Kaely Cormack, the founders of Calgary’s feminist arts and music festival Femme Wave. Ahead of the third staging of the fest, which takes place this year from Nov. 16-19 at various locations in the city, the women talk about why they saw a need for the event, how it’s grown and what they hope to accomplish with it.

We also discuss their punk act The Shiverettes, who have struck a chord in the local and Canadian scene. Muir and Cormack talk about how the band, which also includes Cecilia Schlemm and Steve Richter, came to be, their debut full-length Dead Men Can’t Cat Call and what’s next for the group.

It’s another diverse and, hopefully, thoughtful, engaging and entertaining Scene In the Wild.

It was recorded Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, live at the Wild Rose Taproom and produced by Lorrie Matheson at his Arch Audio studio.

As always, thanks go out to Matheson, the Taproom staff, Wild Rose for sponsoring, Muir and Cormack for sharing their stories, and you for listening.
