Calgary jazz artist Ellen Doty teams with Monogram Coffee in warm support of the Drop-In and Rehab Centre

A warm sweater. A hot mug of joe.

There are few things better at this time of year up north when the temperature is heading south on the Celsius scale.

Unless it’s both of those things working together to support an amazing cause.

On Friday, Calgary jazz star Ellen Doty announced she’ll be teaming with her local coffeeshop Monogram Coffee to make a special Favourite Sweater roast, named after the duet she released last year with reigning #yyc rock god Danny Vacon. Five dollars from each bag sold at one of their two locations — 4814 16 St. S.W. and 420 2 Street S.W. — will be donated to the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre to help with all of their important programs.

“A huge thank you to Ellen and the amazing staff at Monogram Coffee for supporting clients at the DI,” Debbie Newman, executive director of the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre, said in a release.

“This wonderful partnership continues to support DI initiatives such as counselling, job training and affordable housing. Thank you, Monogram, for being someone for those who have no one.”

Each bag of the Favourite Sweater coffee — which can also be ordered online from www.ellendoty.com and www.monogramcoffee.com — will also include a download code for a new version of the song, which will be featured on Doty’s forthcoming album, available March 2 on Alma Records and distributed by Universal Music Canada.

Doty and Vacon will also perform a concert for clients of the Drop in Centre Dec. 19, where Monogram will provide some of their toasty brew.
