Bad can be good.

Especially when that bad can be goodly mocked.

Hence the success of the amazing American TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 and even the shizzles and giggles you get while just hate-watching solo horrible films over and over again. (Personal fave: the Michael Douglas and Demi Moore monstrosity Disclosure. Like goddamn catnip. Discuss.)

And hence the new program our friends at The Fifth Reel are getting set to launch: Awful Cinema.

They’ll do so on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Globe Cinema with a screening of the craptastic flick Batman and Robin, which will feature ongoing commentary and heckling from Napalmpom frontman PJ Lavergne and Broken City karaoke host Murphy Mason.

The Joel Schumacher film, which starred George Clooney as the nipply caped crusader, and also featured Chris O’Donnell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alicia Silverstone and Uma Thurman, is a delightful turd — or, rather, guano — of an entry into the superhero oeuvre and is the perfect film to target for gleeful derision thanks to the horrible Mr. Freeze punnery, the ridiculous costumes and — well, everything.

There will also be beer (yes, it’s licensed and 18+ only), costumes and, prior to the main event, big screen showings of some episodes of the classic ’90s cartoon Batman: The Animated Series.

Sound life a fun, terrible night out?

Good. Because we want you to go. And The Fifth Reel want to help us to help you to go. That’s why they’ve given us a pair of tickets to give away for the screening.

Once more, we’re a-gonna make it easy to enter to win: Please go to our Facebook page, find this posting and add a comment that can be as brief as “S’up” or as lengthy as your Master’s thesis on why Batman and Robin is the greatest film of our time. That is it. That is all.

Go and embrace the best that Awful Cinema has to offer.
