Scene In the Wild Podcask: Episode No. 11, Calgary musician, producer Russell Broom

He is one of the best human beings in the Calgary music scene. If not Canada’s.

Russell Broom is also one of the best producers, songwriters and guitarists that this city can lay claim to.

Most people know him from his work on some of Jann Arden’s most successful albums, as her collaborator and her longtime sideman, but that’s only scratching the surface of all that the Juno winner has accomplished, all of the people he’s worked with over the past couple of decades.

On this episode of the Scene In the Wild Podcask, which was recorded Jan. 27, 2018 at the Wild Rose Taproom, Broom spoke about his journey as a musician, his time with Arden, why that ended and how they’re now talking and working together again, his philosophy behind production, and why he continues to make Calgary his home.

As always, any conversation with him was an absolute pleasure.

You can download it below or for free from iTunes. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks to Broom for sharing, to Lorrie Matheson for producing the Podcask at his Arch Audio studio, for the Taproom staff for being the amazing people they are, and to Wild Rose Brewery for being sponsors of the project and for supporting arts and culture in Alberta.

And along that same line, if you’d like to support independent arts and culture coverage in this province, ensure that we can keep doing things such as the Podcask, please consider supporting our Patreon campaign by clicking here.

Cheers.
