Top picks for getting out Feb. 15-21 including Jabberwocky, Beltline Bonspiel and Family Day at Studio Bell

Hey! Are you ready? there’s a lot going on (as usual) this weekend so you’d better prepare. But first, some announcements!

Just announced:  Vance Joy comes to town June 28 to play the Saddledome, Trevor Noah, comedian extraordinaire, graces our presence at the Jubilee June 15, I Mother Earth with Finger Eleven on April 27 at The Palace, and Tritonal hit town June 1 at The Palace.

Thursday: The Folk Festival’s winter version, Block Heater will take place until Saturday, featuring Foonyap, Kalle Mattson, Leeroy Stagger, Delhi 2 Dublin, Dan Bern, Justin Townes Earle … so many! For fans of dance, Alberta Ballet presents MOMIX at the Jubilee.

FridayFlowshine Album Release takes place at Mikey’s on 12th, and over at Distortion you can take in Cabrakaan. Don’t forget, Block Heater

Saturday: Some family fun downtown at the Beltline Bonspiel at Lougheed House from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., then in the evening ditch the kids and check out Black Label Society with Corrosion of Conformity & Eyehategod at MacEwan Hall. Are you more of a classical fan? Take in Romantic Rachmaninoff with Luca Buratto  presented by the CPO at Jack Singer.

MondayFamily Day at Studio Bell features tons of stuff to take in, the least of which is Kid Koala! Who doesn’t love that guy? Down the street from Studio Bell, you can check out Winterfest at Fort Calgary for some more family fun.

WednesdayWordfest presents Ruth Marshall at the Memorial Park Library, The Sheepdogs with Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs play The Palace, and The Old Trouts Puppet Workshop’s Jabberwocky opens tonight, runs until March 4 at the DJD Centre. So fun!
