Yes, most of you are thinking Stampede.
But there’s another outdoor show a little later in the month that many think is also the greatest.
That is, of course, the Calgary Folk Music Festival, which takes place this year from Thursday, July 26 to Sunday, July 29 on Prince’s Island Park, and which we at theYYSCENE are proud media sponsors of.
The 2018 lineup is inarguably one of the strongest in recent memory with headliners including Joe Jackson, A Tribe Called Red, Stars, Alvvays, Reuben and the Dark, Lee Ann Womack and The Milk Carton Kids.
And Sunday, the closing of this year’s fest is particularly tasty, featuring Bahamas, Neko Case, Shovels and Rope and an entire afternoon of workshops and the bestest, most eclectic music you’ll find in one place.
Obviously you’re going, right? Of course you’ve already bought your ticket or festival pass from the folk fest’s official site here?
No? What are you waiting for? Get on it!
But, well, we also understand things might be a little tight this year and you may be stretched a little thin. Or maybe you’ve forgotten how fun the folk fest experience really is and you need a reminder and a little nudge to make the island your home for those four full days.
