Win tickets to see Calvin Love at Studio Bell as part of the Alberta Spotlight series

There’s no battle of Alberta when it comes to music. Only love.

Which is why our friends at the National Music Centre are more than happy to welcome our usual regional rivals some slots in their fall season of the Alberta Spotlight series, which showcase the best of the eclectic acts this area has to offer.

Fittingly, October’s artist is Edmonton’s Calvin Love, who will perform Friday, Oct. 18 in the Studio Bell Performance Hall. His latest album, Highway Dancer, is a dramatic, melodic, moody folk-pop listen a la Father John Misty.

Love will be joined by fellow E-Towner and sensational songstress Marlaena Moore, who was on this year’s Sled Island lineup and who has built a following of her own with a voice that’s the perfect pitch of power and vulnerability and songs that psych-rock in a plaintive and pretty way.

It should be an amazing night of music from up north.

We, of course, would like you to go. As proud media sponsors of the series, we’ve been gifted a pair of tickets to the show courtesy our pals at NMC.

You know the drill: To enter to win head to our Facebook page, find this post and comment underneath tagging someone you’d like to take to the show. We’ll pick a winner at random and let them know via direct message by noon on Thursday before the show.

Good luck. And please keep supporting live music in your city.
