Climate Imaginaries: Nostalgia in Flight presented by Junction North Gallery

If a ‘social imaginary’ is a term that’s understood as the set of values, attitudes and practices (Charles Taylor, 2003) through which a particular group may imagine themselves, how might various climate change narratives and imaginaries be impacted by nostalgic desires for past practices and ways of being?

Four artists from Canada and USA reflect on these questions and their own experiences with nostalgia and climate through painting, sculpture, drawing and photography. Together their works show the depth and breadth of our personal and collective experiences; powerful emotions emit from each work and show us what it’s like to be living, and longing, in the world today.
