Darkside Drive – Calgary’s first live radio drama series in 80 years

October 31, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - December 26, 2017 @ 9:00 pm MDT

For the first time in nearly eight decades, Calgary airwaves will buzz with the sounds of a live radio drama series, one eager to chill listeners with on-air-dread.
CJSW 90.9 FM will launch the second season of its suspenseful anthology series,
Darkside Drive, live from their studios at the University of Calgary. Season two, consisting of 12 episodes, will kick off Tuesday, Oct. 31 with a standalone Halloween rock musical titled “A Penny Earned,” featuring music composed by Calgary band Forbidden Dimension and written by series co-creator and best-selling author Don Roff.
The special follows a legendary rock singer who strikes a deal with dark forces to cheat death–but at a terrifying price.
Following the musical special, the first of the live episodes will be released starting Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. and every following Wednesday until January. “With the resurgence in audio drama moving to the realm of the podcast, we decided that we had something special in being attached to a broadcast medium where we could reinvigorate the format, while still sticking to the roots of radio drama,” said Justin Guild, co-creator and producer.
The season premiere airs at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 on CJSW 90.9 FM. Visit darksidedrive.com or iTunes to listen online.
The series is funded through a generous grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
