Online Visual and Media Arts

In order to continue to share the work of artists exhibiting in the galleries of Arts Commons, a new virtual gallery platform has been launched that allows visitors to ‘walk’ the halls of Arts Commons and enjoy the art displayed there.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, all of the 11 visual arts galleries and two media arts galleries located in Arts Commons have been inaccessible to the public. Arts Commons has continued to work with the artists through the RBC Emerging Visual Artist Program to create professional development opportunities and foster one-on-one connections between our artists and their peers, but facilitating exhibition exposure has been challenging.

The Fall of CHOP exhibition brought the art out of the building to be exhibited in exterior display cases which are normally used to house marketing posters for Arts Commons and the resident companies, but the limited capacity of the outdoor kiosks makes it impossible to showcase all of the artists featured in the building. Sanja Lukac, Visual Arts Associate, spearheaded the project that would take all of the galleries in Arts Commons virtual.
