Spiritus Chamber Choir presents: Handel’s Alexander’s Feast

Did you know Handel’s Messiah was not his most popular work? Composed in 1736, Alexander’s Feast was Handel’s most popular Oratorio in his lifetime. Even at its premiere it had a run of over 12 successive performances.
This special concert is being performed at baroque pitch (A=415) on period instruments by Rosa Barocca, Alberta’s newest baroque orchestra with members from throughout Alberta as well as Western Canada and the USA. Julia Seager-Scott is traveling with her Baroque harp to play Handel’s famous “Harp Concerto” as part of the performance. There are very few baroque harps on the continent. It will be a treat to hear.
The performance is a celebration of the power of music. It also celebrates our Artistic Director, Timothy Shantz in his 10th year with Spiritus Chamber Choir!
