• Calgary rockers blend sultry with sombre.
Blurring the lines between musical genres like drops of absinthe in a glass of water Stasis emerges from the shadows only to melt into an opalescent haze of rock ’n’ roll hubris. A perplexing yet compelling offering from powerful Calgary three-piece In Absentia Stasis infuses singer Misty Stach’s achingly smooth vocals with parochial melodies and phat noisy guitar riffs that drive her from every safe haven and hiding place she can find. Ranging from sombre to sultry over the course of 10 well-crafted yet hopelessly ephemeral tracks including “Slip of the Tongue” and “The Eloquence of the Void” In Absentia conjures shades of Evanescence and Drain STH with its comfortingly static soft-meets-loud capitulations.
In Absentia will be releasing Stasis on Thursday September 18 at Tequila Nightclub.
