Fringe Rewind The Woods and more

The Woods

Theatre BSMT is launching its production of David Mamet’s The Woods. The play tells the story of a young couple Ruth and Nick spending the night at a cabin while undergoing a painful transition in their relationship.

Mamet banned the play from production for 10 years starting in 1985 because he was unhappy with theatre companies overproducing it. Theatre BSMT has intentionally stuck to the basics on this one.

The Woods is directed by Jason Mehmel and shows at Motel in the Epcor Centre. The play runs from March 12 to 21.

On the Side of the Road

Drawing inspiration from a Marcel Dzama painting featuring a woman carrying a dead deer on her shoulders and set in the northern Alberta town of Lac La Biche director Mark Lawes and Theatre Junction’s Resident Company of Artists bring a combination of dance music theatre and visual arts to The Grand.

On the Side of the Road runs until April 4.
