Oh sure I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “Depeche Mode — I loved them when I was 12.” Yeah well here’s a little tidbit for you smart-ass — they’re still good. In fact they’re great thank you very much. “Oooh what have they even done in the past decade?” Plenty asshole.
To you established fans out there you’re going to like this album. Sure there are a couple of iffy tracks (*cough* “Jezebel” *cough *) but on the whole well done! “Sounds Of The Universe” delivers the synthy goodness and engaging lyrics that one would expect from Depeche Mode regardless of what “era” you’re a fan of — think Violator meets Exciter with a little Playing The Angel thrown in for good measure. “Hole to Feed” sets the sexy tone with sexiness and good times. “Fragile Tension”? More like sexual tension. “I Could Corrupt You”? What the hell are you waiting for Gahan? I’m right bloody here.
