Iris Evans stands by Ralphbucks despite deficit

It’s a little confusing — at least to me — when Alberta goes from posting surplus after surplus to facing a $6.9 billion deficit .

Natural gas revenues are down yes but remember that in 2006 this same government actually handed out money sending $400 cheques to every Albertan (costing the government $1.4 billion). As well earlier this year the province eliminated Albertans’ health premiums cutting about $1 billion in annual revenue.

During Finance Minister Iris Evans’s press conference today I asked her: wouldn’t that money come in handy now?
