G20 takes the cake; it’s not bad enough that Stephen Harper acts like Canadian taxpayers are made of money as he squanders cash at home and around the world leaving Canadians to accumulate billions of dollars in debt while Canadians are taxed to death; but this G20 was disgusting.
Most protest groups were upbeat and peaceful wanting justice for our community. Many came to protest Canadian hunger child poverty our troops outrageous taxes environmental issues and government cuts.
With extreme force G20’s governing authority — the police — arrested about 900 protesting Canadian citizens conveying their freedom of expression for a better Canada and a better environmental world.
I watched the televised arrests. Many people were being held for four hours in a downpour of rain kicked beaten and disallowed bathroom food and medical privileges. I watched video clips of the violence with many showing their bruises and scars; one media member was punched in the face by police.
In embarrassment I felt like I was watching something out of Red Square or another communist country. Who are the thugs here the Canadian government and police or the Black Bloc protesters? Human rights have been smeared with disregard to the generations that have worked hard to build them and for what Canada now “used” to stand for.
