Business group enters online election

‘Basically it’s an education and advocacy initiative’

First came the developers and homebuilders with votecalgary.ca followed by several citizen-led initiatives such as calgarydemocracy.ca and calgarypolitics.com .

Now a business lobby group plans to wade into the online municipal election discourse with a focus on Alberta’s larger city centres including Calgary.

“Basically it’s an education and advocacy initiative” says Richard Truscott Alberta director with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

The group aims to inform and engage its members and the public about the issues survey candidates and publish the results says Truscott. CFIB-generated research on tax and regulatory “situations in various municipalities” will also be posted.
