Order: Large super special ($23.50). A 12-inch pie topped with meat sauce ham pepperoni beef pineapple shrimp mushrooms green peppers tomatoes and onions.
Crust: This was a thicker crust than I’ve seen to date but honestly that’s exactly what was needed for the many heavy toppings. The exterior perimeter of the crust was nicely crisp and coated in crunchy cheese.
Sauce: The thick tasty meat sauce added an expectedly meatier tone to the overall pizza as well as adding a depth that a simple basic tomato sauce wouldn’t have otherwise done justice.
Toppings: Thanks to a blast of high heat in a convection oven Atlas’s pizza sports a thin and crispy coating of cheese that forms over the top of the entire pizza as well as the outer edges. I found it to be quite wonderful and if for no other reason check out Atlas Pizza just for the splendid cheese. The meats were cut to a decent thickness and the vegetables were quite fresh.
Dining options: Eat in take out or delivery.
Decision: At first glance I wasn’t sold on the idea of shrimp and pineapple together on a pizza but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they actually don’t clash. This was a nice thick and filling pizza and of the pizzas I’ve tried so far this one held up the best for a next-day cold pizza snack. There was almost as much cheese as there was crust which is A-OK in my books. Overall this pizza was great and worthy of scoring four out of six slices.
