Alright keeping up my Obama-esque trend of looking forwards not backwards (and considering Devin and Pat have already talked about pretty much everything I would’ve) here’s yet another Tentative Sled Plan. Today’s a long one so bear with me.
Dead Meadow – What better way to start the afternoon than with classic rock riffage on the Local 510 patio? Other than Lee Ranaldo’s workshop I mean which I’m obviously too late for already. Point being we’re in the lazy hazy days of summer and so hazy semi-psychedelic rock seems entirely appropriate.
Sappyfest showcase – I’ve been meaning to check out this east coast fest for a while now ever since I fell in love with Julie Doiron a few years back. May as well show them some love now especially with Gianna Lauren and The Donkeys bookending the showcase (I’ve given the newest Donkeys album a few spins recently and it’s impressive to say the least). I might end up bouncing to Tubby Dog in the middle to see some of Friends Electric/Foggy Notions… depends how comfortable I can get.
Here’s where it all goes to pot. Do I head for the mainstage for some bratty punk from the Buzzcocks and stick it out for the only-one-of-the-fest Sleep set? Or head to the Marquee Room for Rae Spoon and Julianna Barwick who are both top-notch songwriters and will probably sound like heaven but maybe a bit mellower than I’m comfortable with right now? Or steel myself up for some anti-comedy the Neil Hamburger-led comedy showcase at the Auburn?
All I know for sure is that I’m going to try to catch Dinosaur Feathers at Undermountain before I run out of chances then find a way to be at the Legion and Dicken’s at the same time so I can watch Kurt Vile and Deer Tick (forgive the four-year-old video for the latter I just love that song). Seems reasonable.
Enjoy the excessive embeds and happy sledding.
