Fast Forward Weekly is pleased to announce that Drew Anderson will be the publication’s new editor effective October 4.
A third-generation Calgarian Anderson received a degree in political science from the University of Victoria and a diploma in journalism from SAIT. A political junkie at heart with a love of the arts Anderson was previously the arts and lifestyle editor at Fast Forward Weekly before taking a position as the Going Out editor at Swerve magazine.
“I’m really excited to be returning to Fast Forward Weekly . I respect this paper more than any other publication in the city and I’m honoured to be able to take the editorial reins.”
Publisher Ian Chiclo says Anderson brings a thorough understanding of the unique role of Calgary’s alt weekly in the cultural landscape — he is intimately familiar with the arts scene and offers an insightful perspective on news and politics.
Fast Forward Weekly is also saying goodbye to Chiclo who is leaving the paper September 30 to pursue new opportunities. Chiclo was the founding editor of the newspaper and has been its publisher since 2001.
“I’m proud to have helped create a permanent part of Calgary’s media and cultural landscape” he says. “The paper is in good hands and I will continue to look forward to every week’s issue.”
