Odyssey Pizza & Steak House

Order: Athens Classic ($14.05 after a 20 per cent discount for pick up). A 10-inch pizza topped with spinach herbs feta olive oil and fresh garlic.

Crust: I assumed by the pizza name that this would be another thick Greek-style crust but it wasn’t. Odyssey’s crust is thinner than most Greek places in town which is neither a good or bad thing. It all comes down to individual preference. The underside was lightly browned and the end pieces formed solid handles facilitating the enjoyment.

Sauce: There was nothing but olive oil here and it worked on this dish.

Toppings: The spinach was generously spread and despite being trapped under a mound of cheese there wasn’t an abundance of moisture which is something that can ruin a pizza quickly. The olive oil and herbs created nice accents and on this pie the cheese really stood out. The salty feta was scattered amongst a pile of mozzarella.

Dining options: Dine in takeout or delivery.

Decision: This pizza joint was a reader suggestion and included a recommendation to ask for fresh garlic. I’m sure I would have enjoyed this pizza without it but the garlic was the real star here. As I drove home with my takeout I inadvertently created a garlic hot box inside my car and it was intoxicating. Meatless pizzas aren’t usually my first pick but I don’t have a bad thing to say about this choice. The Athens Classic gets four out of six slices.
