Hi guys!
Nü Sensae “Swim” (video)
After crushing it at Sled Island Nü Sensae went home and made an incredible VHS video for “Swim” one of many certified bangers on their upcoming Suicide Squeeze debut Sundowning . Try not to get lost in the magical glitchiness of these warp visuals.
Jefre Cantu-Ledesma “Faceless Kiss”
In a sea of prolific ambient sound artists Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is truly one of the greatest thanks to his ability to weave genuine feeling into the hazy atmospheres of his recordings. “Faceless Kiss” the A-side from his new 7-inch is no different — a heavenly melodic and welcoming listen.
Thee Oh Sees “Lupine Dominus”
Thee Oh Sees are like the Lil B of garage punk in that they can’t seem to stop putting out new material. They’re releasing their 14th album this September via In the Red and they’ve just dropped a new song called “Lupine Dominus” which is packed with guitar fuzz clean drums and dueling vocals. A little more psych than usual keeps things interesting after 10 million Oh Sees songs.
Purity Ring “Fineshrine”
Formerly Edmonton-based indie pop duo Purity Ring are blowing up pretty majorly in advance of their 4AD debut Shrines . As much as I love their crystal clear production and attention to melody they sure have a way for crafting annoying song titles. “Fineshrine” reads like the name of a rejected Tim and Eric sketch but it’s another banger from this duo all gentle pop and giant bass. I’ve got high hopes for this album.
DJ Khaled “I Wish You Would” (featuring Kanye West and Rick Ross)
Can someone please explain to me what DJ Khaled actually does? He always gets credit for these epic collaborations but other than some annoying shouting he doesn’t do much. “His” latest track was produced by “Niggas in Paris” hitmaker Hit-Boy and features Kanye West and Rick Ross. It’s a pretty epic group of people maybe DJ Khaled just gets credit for calling them all up?
Maybach Music Group “Power Circle” (video)
Speaking of Rick Ross dude dropped like 700 music videos this week. One of many is the Maybach Music Group crew video for the opener of their recent Self Made 2 album. It’s nine minutes long and it’s kind of like a tour documentary as all of the rappers hang out in parking lots play basketball and chill with celebs. It’s not great but it’s pretty fun to watch.
