If you don’t know what to do with that old bike in the garage you might be surprised by what you could do with that old bike in the garage.
Beakerhead a citywide collaboration that combines arts technology and science is looking for people who want to build their own pedal-powered cruiser art bike or green machine. Beakerhead will be holding workshops to assist with design and fabrication and to provide basic tools and welding assistance.
There are still a handful of spaces available and teams and families are welcome. The first session will be held April 25 and offers an opportunity to learn about the project find out where to source materials and start designing with the help of two mentors — they suggest you start dreaming up possibilities in advance and then they can help you realize your vision. Three building workshops will follow on May 4 12 and 26.
Registration costs $150 and the resulting mobile works of art can be exhibited during the inaugural Beakerhead a five-day spectacle taking place in Calgary from September 11 to 15 2013. This is an opportunity to be part of a unique and memorable event in the city so don’t miss the chance to turn your old bike into something extraordinary.
