Great dance music is hard to come by. It’s easy to find a great single or compilation but a full-length record with total wall-to-wall bangers from beginning to end? That’s a tough one. Thank god for this Classixx album. It’s one of the best dance records to come out in a long long time. Each track seems like it was tailored to blast the serotonin in your brain to the max and make you feel the great vibes. Sure that sounds a little wavy gravy but it’s true.
“All You’re Waiting For” features vocals by Nancy Whang who played in LCD Soundsystem and is a frequent guest vocalist for The Juan Maclean. Her charismatic vocal style just pumps up the jam to new heights. None of the songs are too abrasive or in your face which is rare for a dance record. There aren’t any “wub wub” sounds or crazy drops. It does have a feeling of early ’90s techno but never feels as cheesy as an old Dance Mix ’94 tape. This is the dance album of the summer.
