The second annual Eat Real YYC food festival on June 8 at Casel Marché will once again "stick it to the man" by celebrating local food small business and real communities.
Billing itself as the city’s "cheekiest" food festival spokesperson Jenn Lutz says the goal is to engage the community and show people there are alternatives to big box stores and genetically modified food
"We’re happy just sort of giving something to Calgary that’s a little bit different" she adds. "The idea is that we want people to realize it’s getting easier to buy local."
The event started last year as the first anniversary celebration for Casel Marché in Killarney which includes Market 17 Cassis Bistro and J. Webb Wine Merchant among others. This year the festival has expanded with REAP Business Association and Slow Food Calgary coming on board as organizers and a long list of participants including food trucks local food and drink companies chefs bakers Alberta farmers urban gardeners and community organizations such as Grow Calgary .
The festival takes place Saturday June 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Casel Marché on the corner of 17th Avenue and 24th Street S.W.
