The shortlist for the 2013 Governor General’s Literary Awards is out and three Calgary authors are among the finalists.
Playwright Meg Braem who teaches at the University of Calgary earned a spot in the English-language drama category for Blood: A Scientific Romance (Playwrights Canada Press) about two sisters orphaned in a car crash who become the subjects of numerous scientific experiments.
Robert Majzels a novelist poet playwright and translator is a finalist for For Sure (House of Anansi Press) the French-to-English translation of Pour sûr by France Daigle.
In the French-language non-fiction category U of C associate professor Dominique Perron is on the shortlist for L’Alberta autophage / Identités mythes et discours du pétrole dans l’Ouest canadien (University of Calgary Press) an analysis of identity narratives developed by Alberta on oil resources over the modern history of the province.
